my brother owes me 18000.00 dollars and all I have is phone texts to show he said he would pay me. will they work in court.

You might assume that your brother is protected by the Statute of Frauds because there is no written contract or note to back up your claim. If you wrote a check for the loan and he endorsed it, then it is possible to prove your case by having him admit that the text messages, assuming the debt, are genuine.
