Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

Civil suit - debt buyer

I've had my initial appearance, filed an answer 5 days after, had a case mgmt conf set and appear however plaintiff the day prior had filed a motion to cont. Court cont. mgmt conf. I appeared plaintiff did not and no motion to cont. was filed. Judge has now issued a rule to show cause for want of prosecution. Shouldn't this case be dismissed? Judge indicated that I may not have to appear again????

Re: Civil suit - debt buyer

I have no idea why the judge didn't already dismiss the case rather, as that is usually what happens if the plaintiff does not appear at an initial court appearance. I would certainly recommend appearing at the next court date to make sure it gets dismissed, as if they show up they may pursue a judgment by default if you are not there.
