Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois
Collection Agency won't respond to validation
I recently received a collection notice in the mail for a supposed overdue toll. After reading about the FDCPA, I sent them a letter requesting they validate the debt (via certified mail), because I honestly do not believe the debt is mine (I don’t drive on the tollway). It’s been over 30 days, and they have not responded. I don’t want to call them, because I do not want to be harassed. What can I do?

Who did you receive the notice from? The toll authority itself or a third party debt collector?
