collection of an old bill.

I have a lawyer calling me about a phone bill he says I owe on but the phone company says that it is paid and they don't know who he is. He says his lawfirm paid the bill and now I owe them but I never asked them to pay it and never signed any contracts. The phone company says their records show the bill was paid by me so I don't feel I owe this lawyer anything. But he keeps saying he's going to put out a warrent for me and calling my friends and work. Do I owe him anything or not?

If the attorney is trying to collect, he should have written you a letter outlining exactly what you owe and other similar details. He should not be harassing you or your friends regarding a bill. You should not have to deal with it. The attorney is acting unprofessionally and unethically. Make sure that he has not listed the debt on your credit report. I would start threatening him with a lawsuit if he does not stop harassing you. You can file a police report reflecting this. Also, if he sues you, just go to court with your proof.
