Contatcting Employer?

I recently was in a car accident with no insurance. I was contacted by the Dept of Transportation and told my drivers license will be suspended because of that. However the insurance company hired a debt collector to collect the debt. They however contacted my supervisor and informed him of my license status. Is that legal to inform a employer of such status. The Debt Collector is a law firm and I assumed it was legal because they are a law firm. However I have did some research and it doesent sound illegal especially when the law firm never attempted to contact me they went staight to my supervisor.

and also look at section 805(b).

If the attorney said or asked ANYTHING not allowed under these sections, they are in some serious trouble. Doesn't matter that this was an attorney rather than a regular old collection agency. This act applies to attorneys just as is does to collection agencies. And, attorneys are often the most flagrant violators of the act. Also take a look at:
