Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

As a co-signer of my daughter on an apartment she had for rent. She left a pot on the stove and it caused smoke damage which totaled $1149.00 in 2008. Now she and I are being summoned to appear in court. She has no job or income. Am I responsible and will I have to pay the $1149.00 plus interest plus court cost?

It would depend on the terms of the lease, and whether the plaintiffs prove their case, but, yes, that is a probable outcome.
