when it says answer to citation filed is that the plaintiff or defendants answer.

what does notice of motion filed and motion spindled mean?

Re: court date

If an answer is filed then the answer is filed by whoever the itation was issued to (usually that's a third party as defendants rarely file answers but rather are required to produce documents and appear at court). Notice of motion being filed means that the notice of motion was filed. And spindled, means the court date has been set.
