If you have already been served, there would be no reason for you to be served at work. If you don't appear at court, they will get a default judgment and will be able to garnish your wages.
It is best to file your appearance, appear at court on the court date and ask for a trial date, and appear at trial. If you do not do this, they will get a judgment. If you have a trial, it is up to them to prove that you owe the debt.
