Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

credit card dispute

In August 2005 an unauthorized credit card purchase was made to my account for $4000. I disputed the charge 3 times with the company but they gave me the run-around and eventually decided in favor of the merchant. They sent me a copy of the invoice that the store had given them. I had took it upon myself to get a receipt from the store also. Not only was my signature forged but there was a co-signer added and the purchase dates and invoice numbers did not match on both receipts. The credit card company turned the matter over to a lawyer and I have been paying $350 a month on a now $6000 balance. There has to be something can do
