Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois
Credit Card Theft
In April 2007, my mother's purse was stolen in Chicago, and it was reported to the credit card companies and police within minutes. Two purchases were made at a local drugstore after the card was reported stolen. A police report was generated at 20:45, and the second purchase occurred at approximately 20:51. However, the credit card company classified the first charge as fraudulent, but said it was ''unable to determine'' whether the second charge was unauthorized. Both charges were over $50. What are our choices if the credit card company says it's an authorized charge.

Re: Credit Card Theft
What was the basis that the credit card company used to say it was somehow authorized? Were the charges made at the same drugstore?
