Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

Debt Collection

I have a debt collector who continues to call 6-7 times a day and will curse at me when I tell him I can only make a minimum payment. He continues to raise the fee by a $1000 with every threat. He even showed up to my home twice trying to collect. I have not recieved a bill for collection from this collector and everytime I ask for it the same man that calls me will not comply. Is any of this aggressive harrament even legal? Should I consult with a lawyer?

Re: Debt Collection

This most likely violates the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, but I don't have very much information to go on. I would highly recommend consulting an attorney in this matter as this kind of behavior is most likely illegal, assuming it it a third party collector.
