Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

Discover Card

I have been turned over to a Lawyers office to collect a debt for Discover Card. I never stop paying on the card. I just could not pay the full monthly payment. I have made payment arrangements to pay the debt with the lawyer office. I also have it in writing. The lawyer has taken me to court for full payment. They say there is no payment arrangement. I have a 2nd court date coming up. I finally found the agreement letter from the lawyer that I couldnt find before. Is this legal taking me to court and what can I do now? Can they garnish my wages if they get a judgement? I am paying every month. They want the full amount now. I owe $16,000. Most of my credit cards doubled the monthly payment, as thats why I am in trouble. I dont want to file bankrupcy, but I dont know what to do. This is the only credit card that they will not work with me.

Re: Discover Card

Once they get a judgment, they can garnish your wages up to 15%, they can put a lien on your home if you own property. Bankruptcy will be able to clean your slate and get you a fresh start, stopping that lawsuit. Contact me if you would like a free consultation.
