Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois
Disputed College Tuition
My wife enrolled in a small college in 1991. Before she attended classes, she dropped out. She completed whatever form they asked for at the time. They did not try to bill us at the time. About 3 years ago the college sent us a bill for the tuition. I promptly wrote back to dispute the bill. They occasionally sent us more bills, which I ignored. Recently they sent the matter to a collection agency, I told them I disputed the debt. I received no more communication from the collection agency. Today, the college called my wife and threatened to sue. Is there any statue of limitations for this type of case?

Re: Disputed College Tuition
Statute of limitations is ten years on written instruments ( this College thing is probably written up and signed somewhere )
