Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

My ex-wife is renting a new house after our divorce. The electric company without my permission has included me on her bill and will not remove me wihtout proof of divorce. I do not feel I am responsible for sending them any documentation for two reasons,

1. I was divorced at the time the new account was started

2. I provided no proof of marriage when our original account was started

If they took our word on marriage isn't this setting a precedent on why they should accept my word now?

Is it legal for the utility company to have me on the account without my consent?

No, although quite honestly, it seems simple enough at this point to provide proof of divorce so this doesn't have to burn more of your energy.

I agree that your best move is to provide the utility with a copy of your Dissolution Judgment and be done with it.
