Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

False debt

Someone got a hold of my soc sec#, and opened a Cingular account in my name. There was no contract signed. They said service was ordered over the phone. I have only (ever) had T-Mobile, and my bill has never exceeded $50. Cingular says I owe them $9,000. How do I dispute this service I never ordered or signed a contract for? I am trying to buy a home and this debt popped up from a collection agency.

Re: False debt

Is it Cingular that claims you owe it or the collection agency? Who is the collection agency? In any event the best course of action is to dispute the claim and claim with both the creditor and the collection agency and have it flagged for identity theft/fraud.
