Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois
My father is having problems getting a loan because of my bad credit, they have put some of my problems on his credit report, although he is not responsible for my bills. We do however have the same first name, but different middle names. How can we show to the creditors that my father is not liable for my debts.

He should send a letter to the credit agencies about the mistaken identity and a letter to each of the creditors. The letters should be notarized with an oath also indicating his date of birth, since the application for credit certainly contained a d.o.b. It would be helpful if your credit cards accounts had your middle name.

Also, provide a birth certificate for all parties as this will show proof of names.
