Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

My friend recently began work for a dental assistant position and has signed the W2 forms and everything but has not received a paycheck for four weeks now. What legal actions pertain to this situation? What laws are being broken by the doctor who pays the employees?

Every company has its own payroll policy. She should have discussed the issue when she started. It could be a monthly payroll (unlikely but possible).
