Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

After the garnishment has been paid off

I have a garnishment against me that takes out 118.00 every two weeks. I have paid off the amount posted on the court docket($2,600). I later received a letter from the law office stating there will not be any thing sent from the court but they will continue taking out interest that has occurred during the time I my check was garnished to pay off the loan. Is this legal? Can I stop this?

In addition to the actual amount owed on the account you are are responsible for court costs, post judgment interests and possible attorney fees. In Illinois post judgment interest is 9% per year. You should obtain a copy of the judgment order so you know the total amount owed.
