Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

My husband just passed away after a long battle with cancer leaving a lot of hospital & doctor bills. He was solely the responsible party on all of these debts. There was no estate. Am I liable for these debts now that he is gone?

If you have not signed anything which obligated you to pay, the mere fact that you were married does not obligate you for his debts.
