Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

Judgment Collections

I have a money judgment against a contractor. My lawyer has filed all the appropriate paperwork, but for 2 years the contractor has failed to appear in court. I have heard of 'judgment professionals' who will help you satisfy the judgment by locating the debtors assets. Their commission is a percentage of the amount of money recovered. My questions are: 1) Does a judgment professional have a legal right to access the debtors credit report once a money judgment is transferred over to his name and, 2)Have you heard much about this profession or find it to be successful?

Re: Judgment Collections

A judgment collection firm could probably access the credit report with the defendant's social security number, full name, and current address. I have had no personal experience with these firms, however they can charge a hefty commission for recovery. I assume your attorney has filed a citation to discover assets.
