Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois
lawsuit
Rewards Networks loans money to restaurants/nightclubs all over the country. Rewards based in Chicago and their contracts say the have jurisdiction in other states. The contract for the repayment of money was signed by the Pres. of corp. and my husband who for 3 months was secretary of corp. (so he could sign checks for deliveries etc.). After 3 months he resigned and took his name off the corporation, he did not like practices people involved in the business. At the time of the signing of the contract with Rewards Network the President and ''another person involved'' told my husband that he would not be financially responsible for anything. He signed the contract which of course states that the parties signing are solely and dually responsible. The President of the now defunct corporation is a lawyer and has many more lawsuits and much more money than we do but since my husband signed the paper (legally binding but morally wrong) he is the only one Rewards Network can find and is being held responsible. The question can a lien be put on our home since it is in both our names and if i buy the house is he still liable because it's after the fact and the suit has been filed in Chicago courts?

Re: lawsuit
You need to have your situation reviewed immediately by a lawyer. You may lose your house. There are things that can be done, but they need to be done immediately.
