Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

leaky roof still leaking after replaced-no warranty

I am an unlicensed roofer. I removed and replaced a leaking flat roof for a small business; it continues to leak. I gave no warranty on this flat roof. When the roof leaked, I went to repair within 2 hours of being notified. Next day I was notified that it still leaks; went again to tarp and examine the roof. The building owner is irate( I understand), and screaming about suing me,etc. What is the best course of action? Do I continue to try and correct problem or how much money do I refund(how much do I HAVE to?) I don't think the verbal abuse he is giving me is making either one of us feel any better about the situation. Should I just hire an attorney and stay away from the building? What are his rights and mine? Any advice to help remedy this problem is very much appreciated.

Re: leaky roof still leaking after replaced-no warranty

The owner has the expectation to receive what he paid for which is a new roof. If it is leaking due to some fault of yours then you should repair the problem. If however it leaks due to no fault of yours then informed the owner of this fact.

I would try to work out something with the owner instead of spending money on an attorney and court time.
