Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois
Is this legal - what recourse do I have
my husband took a loan out and signed my name on the title of car he used as collateral. This relinquished my rights to the vehicle and he then signed the car over to the finance compnay. The finance company said this was fine and told him to do it. I did not know about this loan and want the title of the car back. The loan is only in his name. Is this a valid contract since i did not authorize it? Is it legal for the finance company to do this knowing that I did not sign it? Is this deceptive practice on their end? Can I sue them for this? Please advise.

If your name was on the title of the car then your husband had no authority to sign your name without your authorization. It is not legal for the finance company to be a part of a potential fraud.
I would immediately contact the finance company to inform them of this matter.
What did your husband do with the money that he obtained from the finance company? I think you also need to sit down with your husband and find out if he has done anything else regarding the finances.
