Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

I live in the US and bought a ticket for Europe 5 months ago. 2 weeks before my trip I was advised that my ticket has changed, meaning I have one stop in Germany for example and 30 min to get to the other plain which is impossible. I spoke to them and they finally and they understood it didnt make no sense, so they finally agreed to give the full refund back even though they should have given me free ticket at the end and not agreeing to give us our money back. Not only did I have to change my travel dates, had problems with work (remember I bought the ticket 5 months before and made arrangements for my vacation and work) I also had to pay additional $1000 to get a new last min ticket somewhere else. It affected us financial big time. We were advised we will get out money back in 20 days, a month passed and we still didnt get the money back. When we call them in India we are being provided with different information every day and that we have to wait. My question is would I be able to sue them and what options do I have? (Just to remind you Im doing this from my vacation since we need our money back.?

Let' s start off by saying that you may have the right to sue them, but that does not mean you will get your money. Where is the company located? Are they an IL company that has assets in this state or are they located out of state. Any going to the merits, why should you get a free ticket as well as you money back. You received a contract when you bought your ticket. That contract controls your relationship with the booking company. It may, in fact, require that you mediate the dispute, and may provide that the mediation occur out of IL. Sometimes it pays to book with a company that does business in this state.
