Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois
I painted a lady's terrace, and she won't pay me in full. She paid half at the start, and agreed to pay the rest upon completion of the job, the job is done and she won't pay in full. We had a verbal agreement, that I would wash, sand, and stain her 3 terraces for $1800.00, she paid me $900.00 cash at the begining, and said she would pay the other $900.00 when I was done. I told her that the terraces need another coat of paint and would cost an additional $1000.00 dollars if she wanted it done, she did not and now she does not want to pay me the additional $900.00 for the work I've done, I never said that I would do 2 coats for $1800.00 I said and wrote down on the back of my card that I would wash, sand, and stain her terraces for $1800.00. do I have a case to sue her for the full $900.00 that she owes me?

You may have the right to file a mechanics lien on the premises. It is a very technical area of law. You said you'd paint - you did not say one-coat. If you have painted the terraces and covered them you have completed the job. If you did not, then you may have to do another coat.
