Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

A payday loan type company is taking money from my checking account. How can I get this to stop. I may have had a payday loan several years ago in another state, but I cannot remember for sure if it was paid in full. Even so, I have never given my new account info to anyone since. Is it possible that this may be an identity theft issue?

Your bank will explain the funds taken from the checking account. Contact your bank

to learn whether it is a creditor such as the loan company which must have a court order

or agreement signed by you to take the funds, or whether it may be identity theft. If

the loan company has a court order and lien on your account, your quick option may

be to close the account, and if you wish, try to settle the matter with the creditor later.

If the creditor has a lien on you for the debt owed, it could find out the bank account

number and garnish your account.
