Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois
Hi, I am persuing a lawsuit against a former boyfriend. He asked me to help his daughter shop for bras. I took his child shopping for the bras as well as summer clothes shopping, spending about $600.00. He informed me he did not have money at the time and had not yet received his tax refund. I asked him to take the kids Back-to-School shopping and he agreed. I have all receipts from the shopping trip. I even phoned him a couple of times during the shopping trip to ask for approval on some questions. We are no longer together and I've asked him to reimburse me for the shopping trip. He has refused. Do I have a winning case? Thank you very much for your help.

No idea if you have a winning case. I would guess your former boyfriend will claim it was a gift. The judge will listen to both of you and decide who is the more credible witness. You will need to pay filing fees and service fees, which you might get back if you win. You will also need to take a day or two off of work. Litigation takes a lot of time, money, and energy. The risk may or may not be worthwhile to you.
