Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois
I have received a summon suit for a credit card debt. I do want to know whether to file an appearance or not.

If you do not file an appearance a default judgment may be entered against you. If you owe the debt, and they can prove their claim, you have no defense. However, by filing an appearance, you may then be able to negotiate a more affordable repayment plan. There is argument on both sides, as in any matter, but ignoring it may not be the best thing to do.
