Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois
Received a summons
I received a summons for a credit card that doesn't even belong to me. I first found out about this card almost 4 years ago, I contacted the company and filled out all necessary papers and finally after it was investigated that filed that it was a fraudulant account and I was not resposible for it, The only thing on this account that was correct about me was my first name and address, everything else was incorrect. When I received this summons the first thing I did was contact that credit card company and once again was told there was nothing in my name or social security #. What do I need to do now? I have already sent my statement into the clerks office, what else do I need to do? I am so angry that someone can do this, I just don't understand it

Re: Received a summons
You need to appear at court to make sure that a default judgment is not entered, provide copies of the documentation to the plaintiff's attorney, and hopefully that should resolve it.
