Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

Recieved a summons for unpaid CC debt

I recieved a summons for a bad credit card debt from 3 years ago. I am not sure of my options at this point. I do have the required funds to pay off the debt at this time. The amount is less than $1000, but they also add plus costs in there. Do I need legal representation? Will the lawyers representing the plaintiff be willing to make a deal in order not to take this to court? Will I be going to court regardless of my actions? Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

>>Do I need legal representation? <<

Not necessarily, especially if you intend to pay the debt.

>>Will the lawyers representing the plaintiff be willing to make a deal in order not to take this to court? <<

Possibly. You might try to call them in advance of the hearing date. Otherwise, make sure your are there at the date and time stated.

>>Will I be going to court regardless of my actions?<<

Maybe not, if you have it settled in advance. However, it might be a good idea to be there, just to make sure things go as you planned.
