Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

Am I responsable for nursing home bill. My brother was getting social security and public aid. He was in a nursing home for a few days then I brought him to my house where he died. The bill is for what public aid did not pay. I was his health care power to attorney. He did not leave An estate and money at all and I'm unemployed. Thank you for your help.

When your brother was placed in the nursing home, did you sign anything? Have you ever signed anything in which you agreed to be responsible for that debt? If you signed nothing, you are not personally responsible for his debts.
