Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

Statue of Limitations

I used to live in IL and apparently when I started college I signed up for a credit card (I certainly don't remember doing it). A year later, I got a card in the mail and used it. Needless to say I am in collections for that now. This happened in Nov of 1998. The collection agency on me also has a light bill that I owe from April of 2000. Since the debts were incurred in IL but I live in FL which statute of limitations apply and am I able to use the ''expired statute of limitations'' defense if they sue me at this point? Thank you very much
