Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois
I was sued by a credit card company 2 years ago, I have since paid all but $350. Without any notice my bank account has been frozen so that the creditor can get their money; however, the same creditor submitted a citation about a year ago because I had fallen behind on my payments and as a result my account was frozen. I was told then by the Free Legal Aid Attorney in the courtroom that day, by law, the creditor could only freeze my (same) account one time and that day I used my "Wildcard Option" and my funds were unfrozen. Was I told the wrong information by the legal aid attorney or can they legally freeze the very same account twice? Please advise.
Thank you

They can not issue a citation to the same company without a court order. they have to seek that and as you have appeared, in theory, you are entitled to notice of that application. I agree with the legal aid attorney.
