Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois
I have a summons to appear in court very soon from a debt collection agency/law firm stating I owe a little over $1500. The only piece of evidence is a affidavit of indebtedness signed by a member of the collections firm. Other than appearing, what are my options?

You could hire a lawyer to defend you. You could make a deal with the creditor's attorney, but I wouldn't advise it. You could hire an attorney to make a deal with the creditor's attorney. No matter what you decide, do not just fail to deal with it or the creditor's attorney will take a judgment against you on your court date.
