Summons on Credit Card Debt
Was just served with a summons for credit card debt to appear in court. About 7 months ago I lost my job and my husband started a business that not doing to well, so we decided to work with a debt relief program that's stated not to worry about the summons, that the credit card company is just trying to scare me, well its working and I don't know want to do. Can you please help?

They should have explained to you that while they are negotiating your debts, the debts are growing (interest, late fess etc.). They should have also explained to you that the creditors can still try to collect on the debts while they are negotiating.
Technically, the fact that they sued you is not a problem, however, it starts a clock running. Once they have obtained a judgment against you, there will be a lien against your house and any other property you may have, In addition, they can take money out of you bank accounts and paychecks.
You have at least 30 days until they get a judgment, so you need to do something.

Do not believe the person from the debt relief ageny. They are wrong. You can not ignore the summons, and you should hire an attorney to represent you in court. If you do ignore the summons, a judgment will be entered against you for a lot more than you probably owe, and the creditor would then be able to garnish your wages or your bank account or seize your vehicle. An attorney will make a world of difference for you. Please do the smart thing and hire an attorney.
