Is a widow in Illinois responsible for the credit card debt of her spouse? All accounts were in his name only.

If there were any assets in his name only, then the value of those assets may be available to pay creditors - but you are entitled to the first $10,000 of those assets. You are not personally responsible unless you signed a contract to be responsible for them
