Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

I worked for a college back in 2005 and decided to take advantage of the tuition reimbursement option they had during the time which would pay 95% of tuition. While in school they had a sleuth of layoffs in which I was forced to resign. Since then I have graduated from the college in 07. A couple years following my graduation Ive been hit to pay the balance of over 30,000 for the student loan that was issued to me. Granted I had no clue that I would have to pay $30,000 for this tuition 95% was suppose to be paid for as part of my benefit package. The loan is being garnished over 500.00 a month from my pay check and my federal returns are being garnished as well.

I cannot accept the fact that they are putting this loan on me 2 years after graduating. This tuition reimbursement was a part of the package they offered to employees. I worked over 2 years there and they are not holding there end of the agreement.

Is this something I could fight and take further?

Thanks!
