Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois
In 1981, i was charged with concealment of merchandise (an onion soup packet and a tomato). I was 20 and grew up on Newport RI. I temporarily moved to Virginia Beach, VA (that is where the crime took place. When I was arrested, I called my father who was a retired police man. He called an acquaintance at the FBI to get the charges dropped. They dropped the charges, but I found out yesterday, after all these years, and many fingerprintings, that I have a rapsheet with the FBI for this incident. I am in the process of becoming a teacher, and I do not want this record to show up as a FBI hit. Is there anything I can do to get rid of it?
