Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois
Under age drinking ticket
I received a ticket for under age drinking on 4/13/09 in Bloomington IL. Went through the court process, and paid my fee. Unknown to me there was a law passed on under age drinking. Which states your license would be suspended for a period of one year. Is it the courts obligation to inform me of this or not? Because of this I am in violation of probation for a unrelated charge.

Re: Under age drinking ticket
Well if the law was passed after you received a ticket, then it should not apply to your case. The Court is obligated to tell you what your sentence is, not to inform you about all the laws that may or may not apply to you.
Feel free to call if you have any questions.
