Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

Aggravated battery to a pregnant person??

Tis reguarding my boyfriend. We got into a fight, in which we both did and said some things we regret. He ended up pushing my head back, which resulted in my lip bleeding. I was very angry, and over-emotional, so I went to the police station to file charges. I over-exagerated, and left out a few things. They issued a warrant for his arrest, and when they found him, he gave them a different name because he was scared. He is now being charged with 2 counts of aggravated battery to a pregnant person(I am 4 months pregnant with his child) and obstructing justice. From the information I have got, if I do a good job talking to the state's attorney, the charges could be dismissed. (Oh, and my boyfriend is on parole, with 6 months left) Is this a case in which I would need an attorney, or should I let justice take it's course?

Please help!!

It seems to me your boyfriend needs an attorney. If he's being charged with aggravated battery, that's a felony. Also, many police departments charge a person with obstructing justice when given a false name. Call a lawyer. 773-237-3516

My advice would be to cooperate fully with the authorities to see that this "boyfriend" is prosecuted to the full extent of the law including the revocation of his parole. When you get an opportunity, I would suggest that you correct any inaccuracies in your statement so that any exxageration or ommissions do not hinder the prosecution. Men who get physically violent with women do not change, and you will have no one but yourself to blame if he hurts you or your unborn child. I can't imagine why you would choose such a person to be your "boyfriend".
