Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois
About appearing in court on a charge.
I have a question about being charged for something that happened to me at random. It is from an incident that took place during the 4th of July in a crowd of people. A woman claimed that I, in fact, kicked her baby while I was traveling in a crowd. Also the woman was very mean towards me and actually physically harassed me. She still called the police and told them that I ''did something'' to the child that I did not do. I need to know if anything serious can happen to me because of what the woman was able to tell to the police?

Re: About appearing in court on a charge.
Apparently you were charged with battery. This is a class A misdemeanor which carries a possible penalty of up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $2500. You may have accidentally hit the child and the charge of battery requires that you do something to someone with knowledge. If it was an accident there is not a battery. That being said, you should have a lawyer with you because of the possible penalties. Feel free to contact us for a free consultation at
