Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

No Arrest Warrant issued after being notified that charges are going to be filed

Four weeks ago a Detective from a Northwest Suburb in Cook County calls me up and notifies me that he will be charging me with a misdemeanor and that I could go to the police station voluntary or that he will get a warrant for my arrest and pick me up at my house. I made an appointment with this Detective to turn myself in and I blew the Detective off by not showing up for the appointment and I never called back to reschedule. A couple days later the Detective stops by my house without an arrest warrant and leaves his card in between my front door and my storm door. It has been four weeks and according to the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County District 2 in Skokie no charges have been filed and I do not have a warrant out for my arrest. What do you think is going on? Could it be the fact that bond court closes at 3pm and this Detective starts work at 3pm every day?

Thanks

Re: No Arrest Warrant issued after being notified that charges are going to be filed

Usually, cases aren't filed in Cook County until after an arrest is made, so it's no surprise that the Clerk did not have a record. You need to confer with an experienced criminal defense lawyer immediately. If you do not already have one, please call me.
