Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois
I was arrested for battery and property damage in July. The defendant did not press charges or submit a damages estimate. He had his cousin who is a lawyer contact the State's Attorney to have their charges dropped, which they were- the case was dismissed. I have paid for most of the damage but not the full amount yet. Bc the relationship has ended the former defendant is threatening me re-instating the charges, having me re-arrested, and me ending up with a record. Is this possible or just angry threats?

Without knowing exactly what is in the court record, this question cannot be answered. I suggest that you go to the courthouse and see what was officially done and wheterh there are any court ordered requirements regarding the dismissal
