Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois
I was arrrsted for assault. I had a first court date and asked to be postponed to get lawyer. The judge said i needed a lawyer by the next court date. What will happen if i go to court without a lawyer?

Depending on the judge, the judge may keep continuing your court case until you appear with an attorney.

The judge has several options. The most common one is that the judge may have you come back everyday until you arrive with a lawyer. Another, he may take you into custody and release you only when a lawyer arrives on your behalf. I would not push your luck with the judge. Call me, and I'll be there for you on the next date.
