At what age is it considered assault when a parent beats, whips a child? A 38 yr old father has proclaimed that non conformance to the rules of the house will result in a beating or a whipping. One child in question is already 18 and another is 20.

Greetings. In Illinois the law has changed quite

a bit. Assault and battery charges can be brought against a parent for the severe beating

of his/her son or daughter, especially when the

son or daughter is 18 years of age.
