Assault and Battery
I have one conviction on a class 4 drug case, now I've been charge with assault and battery on a peace officer. What is the penalty time and how long will I be in court for this. cook county jail court always continue court dates for months on cases and before you know it, you would have spent your whole time in county jail.

Depending on the facts in your case, your case could be disposed of in a few weeks. A few months ago, I represented a client in Cook County Jail for aggravated battery to a police officer. I filed my appearance and had a bench trial within a few weeks. The defendant was release a few hours after trial. He was convicted of a misdemeanor, resisting arrest, and given a sentence that equaled time in custody.
