Violation 720 ILCS 5/8-4(a) Is this a class A misdemeanor or a felony?

Obstructing Justice is a felony. 720 ILCS 5/31-4. It can be either a Class 3 or a Class 4. Either way, attempt of that crime is a Class A misdemeanor.

I don't think that there is an offense of attempt to obstruct a police officer. You called it obstructing justice. You either obstruct an officer, or you don't. Obstructing a police officer is a class a misd. Attempt is one class lower, so it would be a class b.
