Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois
Background check
I was convicted of a felony (3 counts of burglary) in 1996. I completed my probation in 1999 (community service, fines, no prison sentence). In 2003 I received my Bachelor's degree. I have been turned down for multiple job and career opportunities because of failed background checks. I have doubts that I can have my record expunged, but will I have the same fate if I relocate to a different state. Most of these background checks seem to have been done at county and not a state level.
Thank you.
