As charged, your boyfriend is looking at a minimum sentence of 6 years on the class X felony. With no background he may have an opportunity to have his charges reduced to a probationable offense but nothing is guaranteed as the State's Attorney is the only body that can reduce charges. In the past I have had class X felonies reduced if the Defendant can demonstrate that aside from this offense he/she is a good candidate for probation (employment, education, family, etc.).
There is no way of knowing with being in court and talking with the States Attorney (Prosecutor).
