brutality. You have the

option of suing him in Federal

District Court, and you should

write the Justice Department.

Also, you should file a

complaint with the Office

of Professional Standards,

if this happened in Chicago,

or the appropriate police

complaint division for the

city where this occurred in

Illinois. If criminal charges

are brought against you, please get private legal representation. It will be

worth the costs in the long

run, and you will and should

obtain legal representation

throughout this process!!

You indicated that you were taken to the lock up, but you never mentioned what, if anything you were charged with. There is a good chance that if you were not breaking the law when you called the Officer a shrimp (not a good idea, as you are now aware), that whatever you were eventually charged with is subject to a motion to quash the arrest. It does sound as though you need legal representation. The first thing you need to do is to get insurance for your car, before your court date. That will reduce the penalty for that.
